THE ARMS OF GREECE AND HER BALKAN NEIGHBORS, ROBERT ELGOOD

THE ARMS OF GREECE AND HER BALKAN NEIGHBORS, ROBERT ELGOODThames and Hudson has just published a new book by Dr Robert Elgood, a world authority on Eastern arms and armour. The book, entitled The Arms of Greece and her Balkan Neighbours in the Ottoman Period, is a hardback book magnificently illustrated with over 500 colour images.

Guns and swords from this period were often richly ornamented with silver, ivory, mother-of-pearl or coral. Each town developed its own style of weaponry, and these weapons became potent status symbols and an essential part of a man’s attire from the age of twelve. Elgood's text incorporates the manufacture and trade of these exquisite objects into the history of the region and the personal stories of their owners.

The book is available for 42 Stg. directly from the publisher.
